Wyoming Governor’s Council On physicl fitness and sports

Britnee Tonille, Council Secretary, Laramie [picture]
Britnee is a native to Wyoming and was one of those kids who trained for school sports by throwing hay bales and running the ditches. She come to the council with enthusiasm to persuade an appreciation for one's health and wellness among all age groups. Her involvement with fitness progressed from her first push up at age 1, to Cowboy State Games, to competing in track overseas, volunteering with Special Olympics and Relay for Life, playing college basketball and running; half/full marathons and team ultras. Her current obsession is triathlons. She is a project coordinator and research scientist at the Center for Rural Health Research and Education where she strives to broaden the quality and access of healthcare to Wyoming residents. Her educational background is in Kinesiology and Health Promotion and Personal Training. She has also had the opportunity to co-manage a fitness center. Britnee believes your body IS the greatest instrument you will ever own, and she shares this sentiment with all.

Alice Burron, Cheyenne [picture]
Alice is passionate about motivating people of all ages to be active and live an extraordinary life. Alice is a M.S. graduate from the University of Wyoming in Exercise Physiology, and has more than 20 years of experience as an Exercise Physiologist, ACE certified Personal Trainer, an Elementary Physical Education Instructor. Alice is a former body builder and marathon runner. She currently works at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center as the Wellness Coordinator for their 1900 employees and is a very popular motivational speaker and writer and is the Lead Fitness Expert for Nursetogether.com.

Mary Bushkuhl, Cheyenne [picture]
Mary Bushkuhl is a 1984 graduate of the University of Arkansas. She earned an M.Ed. in Exercise Physiology. In 1994 she graduated from massage school and has been practicing and expanding her knowledge in this wellness therapy. In 1999 Mary achieved the goal of becoming an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. She has maintained that certification. Mary is passionate about motivating people to take on a healthier more active lifestyle. Her speciality is post rehabilitation and taking ordinary people and athletes who have sustained injury to a higher level following therapy. Mary has her own personal training and massage therapy business in Cheyenne.

Lynn Collins, MS, CHES, Cheyenne[picture]
Lynn has a background in nutrition education, physical activity, and epidemiology. As the Wellness Coordinator for Laramie County School District #1 she is enthusiastic about developing a comprehensive worksite wellness program that enables employees to find joy and happiness in their professional and personal lives. She believes wellness is a journey not a destination and we are all on personal journeys unique to each of us and must learn life lessons along the way. She enjoys connecting with employees and teaching the Steps to a New You class which intertwines ideas of intuitive eating, body size acceptance, and enjoyable movement through walking. Lynn is the mother of a five-year-old and actively pursues her passion of the outdoors through biking, hiking, cross country skiing, running, and camping. She also enjoys playing basketball and softball and teaching spinning and strength training classes.

Tim Fagnant, Powell
After graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1985, Tim began his teaching and coaching stint with the Kaycee Buckaroos. He is now a Panther, residing in Powell with his family. He has a great position at Powell Middle School instructing students in Health and Physical Education, and coaching middle school basketball. Tim believes a healthy lifestyle provides many with an opportunity for physical, mental, emotional and social growth, and thus it is important that we give ample opportunity to the youth of today to participate in activities of all kinds, so that they may find their niche that keeps them healthy for a lifetime.

Katrina Lorenzen, Casper[picture]
Katrina Lorenzen is the Student Wellness Coordinator for Natrona County School District and a member of Wyoming Action for Healthy Kids, WAHPHERD (Wyoming Association for Health Physical Education, Recreation and Dance), and AAPHERD (American Association for Health Physical Education). She serves on NCSD Goal #4 team (Safe, Healthy People) and is in the Leadership Casper class for 2010. Katrina was selected to serve as a community coach for the ACHIEVE Healthier Communities Grant that the City of Casper Parks and Recreation Department received this year. She taught aerobics for 16 years and was a personal trainer for 10 years. Katrina enjoys walking, hiking, golfing, and helping others believe in Wellness. She loves spending time with her family which includes 3 beautiful children and a wonderful husband.

Lucy McVeigh, Cheyenne
Lucy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication, with a Masters currently in progress. She has been a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and Pilates instructor for over 15 years. Lucy is currently an adjunct PE instructor at Laramie County Community College, teaching Pilates and Dance Aerobics. She was recently named 2008 "Instructor of the Year" in the Health Sciences and Wellness Division. Lucy owns FitnessLink Fitness Contracting Services, providing group fitness classes for the United States Air Force. She also owns of private Pilates studio. Lucy works as a pilates instructor for the Laramie County School District Wellness Program, and she is also a movement coach for Parkinson's Disease patients. Lucy is a busy mother of three outstanding sons, and her hobbies include singing, playing piano and composing music, listening to music, drawing and painting, dancing, exercising, traveling, sewing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Dale Ann Meeker, Powell
She has taught physical education and coached in Powell for the past 23 years. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1979 and continues to follow the Cowgirl and Cowboy athletic programs. She had the privilege of playing college basketball for UW and Coach Margie McDonald. Physical activity and quality of life are extremely important to her both personally and professionally. She has acquired some new hobbies recently, including scuba diving and trap/skeet shooting. She loves anything competitive and enjoys mother nature. Dale Ann indicated that in her job she has seen the increasing numbers of overweight and obese students in her classes. Dale Ann hopes that by serving on this committee that she can provide kids and families with some new activities to encourage an active, healthy lifestyle.

Paul Prevedel, Rock Springs
Paul has been employed with the City of Rock Springs for 27 years as Recreation Program Director. He is responsible for a wide variety of both youth and adult activities, sports leagues, and special events. He graduated from Rock Springs High School and the University of Wyoming. He coached girl's and women's basketball at the junior high and junior college levels for eleven years. He is currently a member of the Wyoming Recreation and Parks Association, National Recreation and Parks Association, and AAHPERD, and is a ACEP and NYSCA certified instructor. He is also currently the Wyoming Senior Summer Olympic Games, State Games Coordinator. This event will be hosted in Rock Springs during 2009/2010.

Jerry Rief, Council Treasurer, Cheyenne [picture]
Jerry is a computer programmer for the State Auditor's Office. He has been an avid runner most of his life, running track and cross-country for Torrington (1980-83) and the University of Wyoming (1990-91). Being an active member of the Fifty States and DC Marathon Club and Group, the 50Sub4 Marathon Club, and a member of the Sub 3 Marathon Group, he has run a marathon in 38 of the states. He enjoys coaching track and field for Buffalo Ridge Elementary School. He also enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, biking, and most other outdoor activities. Jerry is looking forward to providing different activities to promote physical fitness in the youth of today. He believes more active alternatives to computer games and television for our youth will inspire the youth to become active adults and parents.

Tammy Till, Council Co-Chair, Cheyenne[picture]
Tammy works for the State of Wyoming, A &I (Administration and Information), Employees’ Group Insurance section. Her position at the State has developed into the statewide wellness coordinator, which is a great match for her at-home and professional life. She is an advocate of promoting healthy lifestyles for all ages through exercise and nutrition. She has been a volunteer youth basketball coach for the YMCA, activities planner and softball coach for her church, and a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society; Relay for Life and Race for the Cure. She enjoys most indoor and outdoor physical activities including 5ks, softball, hiking in the mountains, yoga, Pilates and weight lifting. Tammy says she is excited to be a part of the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports because it gives her a great opportunity to reach outside her realm of Wyoming State Employees to all State of Wyoming citizens.

Rich Vincent, Council Co-Chair, Laramie [picture]
Rich is employed by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality-Land Quality Division, and is currently serving his second (3-year) term on the Governor's Council. As a member of the Governor's Council, Rich was involved in the promotion of having Wyoming's school children participate in the National ACES Day Campaign (All Children Exercising Simultaneously) through the Governor's Council.

Rich has always participated in sports and outdoor activities. He played competitive soccer during high school, college, and post-graduation. He also coached the UW Women's Soccer Club for two years (1978-1980), as well as various youth sports. He is an avid bicyclist (transportation, access, racing, and just riding).

Additionally, Rich is the Vice-Chair of Cycle Wyoming, Inc., a non-profit bicycle advocacy organization which organizes the annual Tour de Wyoming bicycle tour. He also sits on the planning board of the Laramie Duathlon (a run-bike-run race in it's second decade of existence). Rich serves as the Chairman of Laramie Enduro, Inc., another non-profit organization, that promotes the Laramie Enduro, a 111K mountain bike race. Profits from this race are distributed to worthy local non-profit organizations in southeastern Wyoming.

Rich would like to see the Governor's Council become more proactive. He is also interested in working towards promoting any program that will educate and stimulate our school age children to becoming more physically active and healthier. He would also like to have the Governor's Council become involved in with WAHPERD (and their annual meeting), the President's Fitness Challenge, Cowboy State Games, and possibly an annual health and fitness expo or symposium. Rich would also like the Governor's Council to develop a system/method by which it could endorse various activities, events, and/or races that promote physical fitness.
